Celebrate Independence Day with the Wawa Welcome America Main Event on July 4, 2022!
A free concert by Tori Kelly, Ava Max and Jason Derulo, the party on the boardwalk, a patriotic parade, a celebration of freedom and fireworks spectacularly close the 2022 Wawa Welcome America festival. Here’s what it there is to do to celebrate the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Free Museum Day at the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History
From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., you can visit the National Weitzman Museum of American Jewish History with free admission.
The NMAJH is the only museum in the United States specifically dedicated to exploring and interpreting the American Jewish experience. The museum features experiences and educational programs that preserve, explore and celebrate the history of the Jews in our country.
Freedom Celebration Ceremony
Head to Independence Hall for the Freedom Ceremony celebration, which will honor those in the city of Philadelphia and beyond who make our nation a better place.
The event will feature special guests, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, the presentation of Mayor Jim Kenney’s Magis Prize, the reveal of the Wawa Foundation Hero Award winner and Freedom Mortgage’s Celebrate Freedom Award.
There will be a limited number of places available. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
For those who don’t go to Independence Mall, they can watch the ceremony broadcast live on NBC10.com and the NBC10 app at 10 a.m. Watch the ceremony later on NBC10 at 6 p.m.
Tribute to America Independence Day Parade
Stick around after the Freedom Celebration for America’s Independence Day Parade from 11 a.m. to noon along East Market Street between 2nd Street and City Hall.
This year, the parade returns with a new route that you can consult here. Miss America 2022, Emma Broyles, will be the grand marshal; guests can enjoy fun, patriotic floats, marching bands, performances and appearances by historical figures.
Free Museum Day at Christ Church and Cemetery
Christ Church and Cemetery offers free entry between 11am and 5pm
The church hosted the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary era and is one of the city’s most visited historical sites. Free 4th of July Museum Day will include special tours and story hunts. A concert by the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra and a performance by The American Revolution – The Show! will be set up, all free of charge.

Party on the boardwalk
The Boardwalk Party leads you into the main event with lots of fun and entertainment from noon to 7 p.m. Check out the games, food trucks and giveaways from Logan Square to the Boardwalk.
There will be two show stages to see live entertainment, children’s activities and fun at the PECO Kids Zone, as well as a book courtesy of Books in Homes USA. Click here for the artists’ schedule.
Come bring a picnic, a small personal cooler, chairs and blankets, even your pet (on a leash) is welcome. Enter Logan Square.
🎶 Wawa Welcome America 4th of July Concert with Jason Derulo, Ava Max and Tori Kelly
It’s finally back and in person on the boardwalk! The FREE Wawa Welcome America concert on July 4 is the main event after 16 fun-filled days.
The star-studded concert will feature performances by award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Derulo (returning after performing without a crowd on July 4, 2020), multi-platinum popstar Ava Max and award-winning pop and gospel singer Tori Kelly. The concert will be followed by a breathtaking fireworks display.
The concert and fireworks will be televised live on NBC10, the NBC10 app, NBC10.com and TeleXitos for anyone who wants to tune in from home or on the go.
🎆Wawa Welcome America Fireworks Spectacular
The pyrotechnic show will follow the concert on July 4 from 9:45 p.m. to 10 p.m.
DJ Ghost and Q102 will light up the airwaves with a DJ set synchronized with the light-up fireworks.
