It was a fascinating game between two London teams in the Emirates on Monday night, as Arsenal snatched a point against Crystal Palace. Odsonne Edouard seemed to have snatched the three points only for Arsenal to equalize. Liverpool fans were very impressed with the Palace ace.
Edouard, 23, joined Palace this summer after a successful few years at Celtic. The ex-PSG star has scored 86 goals in 179 Celtic outings – and tallied 39 assists for the Scottish giants. The form saw him eventually move to the Palace, with The standard claiming the London side had paid £ 14million.
There were doubts whether Edward could drop a division and still have the same impact he did north of the border. But his debut against Tottenham allayed those concerns. Entered as a substitute, the forward scored a brilliant brace in a 3-0 win for the Eagles at Selhurst Park.
Then, on Monday night, Edouard brought his tally to three Premier League goals in five games for Patrick Vieira’s side. With a score of 1-1, Palace countered after an error by Albert Lokonga. Edward ran to Ben White before hitting a bar effort, ahead of Aaron Ramsdale.
What are Liverpool fans saying about Palace star Edward?
Liverpool have options at the top – but lack depth. Obviously, Mo Salah is probably the fittest player in the world right now. Sadio Mane is also on fire, scoring his 100th Premier League goal last time around. But they need cover, with both set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and the outcast Divock Origi are the other options. But Liverpool could do with another. The chances of them getting Edward just six months after arriving at Palace are almost nil – but Liverpool fans might be frustrated that the Reds didn’t sign him from Celtic in the first place.
