After four disappointing results in a row, the Blackburn Rovers ended their poor streak on the pitch with a 2-0 win over Reading at Ewood Park yesterday.

The Rovers hadn’t seen success since a 5-1 loss to Cardiff City on September 25 – almost a month after the win.

Defeats to Huddersfield and Blackpool on the road followed before losing a two-goal lead last Saturday at home to Coventry City, then moved to the capital to face the Queens Park Rangers where they succumbed to a late strike of ‘Ilias Chair.

Tony Mowbray pitted his side against a half-decent fit side in Reading and after a poor first half the hosts rallied to win by a comfortable margin.

And for once, Ben Brereton wasn’t on the scoresheet, with goals going first to Sam Gallagher who was charged with an easy tap-in, while Tyrhys Dolan’s strike was pure quality.

The small forward cut to the left side of the field unchallenged and he was able to pull an effort into the far corner beyond Luke Southwood’s outstretched arm.

Dolan’s overall contributions have been rented by Mowbray and there has been similar praise for his performance on social media by Rovers fans.
