Testing of people on the ship was made necessary after a crew member was found infected with the coronavirus on Sunday, an official said.

Passengers who were transferred to an isolation facility were also returned to the ship before it left for Mumbai. Coronavirus-positive passengers would be isolated on the ship, he said.

Some of the infected people who refused to leave the ship were traveling with their families, he said, adding that a few family members had tested negative for the viral infection.

The ship is expected to reach Mumbai by Tuesday afternoon, he added.
