Dolphins CB Xavien Howard raves about Jets rookie Elijah Moore

Even the competition raves about Elijah Moore’s performance on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets rookie caught eight passes for 141 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins. Gang Green lost the game 24-17, but Moore’s career day was widely praised by his teammates and opponents.

“He’s going to be special in this league”, Dolphins CB Xavien Howard noted. “He’s a shorter guy, a quick guy. He made some tough catches there and I respect his game.

Robert Saleh said much the same about Moore, whose touchdown came on a 62-yard reception that required elusive speed. “It will only get better,” Saleh said. “He’s going to be a special kid.

Moore, meanwhile, had just as much appreciation for Howard, one of the best ballhawks in the NFL.

“I’ve been watching him for a while. It’s a great corner, he’s a great player. And I’ll take it and run with it if someone special tells me, ”Moore noted. “Great respect.”

A second-round pick, Moore has scored five touchdowns in his last five games with 25 catches and 349 yards. He became the focal point of New York’s passing attack after a slow start to his first NFL season.

He’ll have another chance to face Howard and the Dolphins when the Jets travel to Miami in Week 15.
