Ibiza authorities crack down on illegal parties by recruiting private detectives to organize events.
This is part of a campaign to help stop the illegal raves on Party Island with the undercover team who must masquerade as tourists.
Successful applicants will be between the ages of 30 and 40 and will be able to blend easily with revelers. Duties will also include finding out when and where the raves are taking place and informing the police.
Authorities are implementing the sweeping plan after a wave of raves and parties have been blamed in part on an increase in Covid-19 cases on the Balearic Island.
Mariano Juan Colomar, deputy head of the island’s government, told Reuters: “They (the candidates) have to be detectives but have to look like tourists so that they can blend in with the people attending the parties.
“We want these infiltrators to let the police know where the parties are going so we can stop people from going there and prevent outbreaks of the coronavirus.”
Ibiza nightclubs are closed and bars and restaurants must close at 1 a.m. under coronavirus rules, but secret raves are being held in empty private homes.
The raves exploit a legal loophole that prevents police from raiding private homes unless police have a court order, leaving police with no choice but to try to break them down before they go. start, local media report.
Party-goers are often notified of the location via social media a few minutes before an event starts with tickets costing up to 100 euros, according to local police.
