Julien Bracht explores the power of pure techno on “Rave Flower”

From being one half of an indie post-rock duo to quickly becoming a rising star on the Berlin techno scene, Julien Bracht just dropped emphatic and powerful accent Flower Rave via its own imprint System records. A melodic journey from start to finish, Bracht brings together his immaculate ability to create refreshing techno beats. You can hear throughout the project, an artist with a deep love for analog synthesis and production – working from his studio in Berlin, Bracht creates his unique and powerful acid techno with his Dave Smith: Prophet 6 synth and a selection of classics Roland machinery.

Through Flower RaveJulien Bracht shows why you should watch one of his DJ sets. The sound expands from start to finish, with moments of ecstasy, euphoric sounds and a thundering techno beat reminiscent of old school raves. The four-track EP kicks off with “across the ocean”, a title that evolves from start to finish on classic techno rhythms created by the famous Prophet 6 which brings out this real nostalgic electronic energy that we often hear on a Todd Terje Where Traxx palm trees song. This is followed by the more acidic sound of “Don’t hunt your enemies”, a booming sound with a more acidic techno style. This four-story techno track is peppered with alien-sounding bass synthesizer sequencers and weird-sounding rim shots. There are plenty of hands-on moments, a particular favorite being the breakdown in the euphoric “Rave Gene.”

Speaking on the new EP, Bracht writes “This is my first new music job, since releasing my debut album ‘Now Forever One’ last year. I really wanted to transition into the ‘dancefloor past’ I had before forming the band Lea Porcelain. It’s my way of expressing my personal enthusiasm with my very clean production of layered patterns and emotional synth pads. The EP is made for good rave times and I was definitely inspired by the big hall raves of the 90s and 2000s.” He adds, `I poured all my energy and love into this EP and I’m grateful that you listen to it and maybe include it in your own personal “rave” moment in your sets in a club or at home only with yourself. Have fun with it!
