“Approaching the moment: the voice of the artist”, exhibited Saturday through March 5 at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, 215. E. Tyler St., in Longview. Four large-scale paintings created by emerging black artists in Wilmington, Delaware, originally painted and installed on the boarded up shop windows of a main street in the city’s downtown core, will be on display alongside photos of the artistic process. “Sam Cooke’s Music: A Change is Gonna Come,” 7 p.m. Saturday, Belcher Center at LeTourneau University. With singer Bradd Marquis. The performance will include some of Cooke’s greatest hits, such as “A Change is Gonna Come”, “You Send Me”, “Only Sixteen”, “Cupid”, “Chain Gang” and “Twistin ‘the Night Away”. With the recreation of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and Big Bopper’s last tour with hit songs from the 50’s including “That’ll Be The Day”, Peggy Sue “,” Oh, Boy “,” Rave On “, “La Bamba” and “Dentelle de Chantilly”.
