If you liked the R Snack Shop when he “lived” in the West Town Mall, you’ll really love him now that he has found a new home in the heart of downtown Cut Bank. at 14 East Railroad Street. Not only is it more central, but it has ample parking and soon, drive-thru!

Melanie Racine officially took over R Snack Shop in May of this year, but has been running it as her own ever since her parents, Gary and Sue Racine handed her the reins and focused their efforts on the Big Sky Cafe on Main Street. .

“Last March, in 2020, my grandfather got very sick and my dad was often with him, so I took over the management of R Snack Shop so he could be with his dad. Then the Big Sky Cafe was for mum and dad and they said it was ‘my turn’ and said if I wanted the business, it was yours, ”explained Melanie. “I wanted it. I love people, I love my clients, so of course that was what I was going to do.

He was still in the mall at that time, but the Racines were actively looking for a few places in Cut Bank to relocate the business.

“My parents visited the old Taco John’s restaurant a few years ago and at that time the asking price was just too high. But then we looked at it again this year and offered a price to the owner and they took it and in early May we signed the papers, ”she said.

“We did a lot of painting and cleaning inside and luckily it had been cleaned before we took possession of it,” said Melanie. “I chose all the colors and designed what I wanted it to look like. My parents helped me with everything, because that’s what we do for each other. I am very proud of how it turned out.

Their first day of work was Monday July 26. “This whole week has been incredibly busy,” exclaimed Melanie. “A lot of people come in to say hello, order something and say how happy they are that we are here. Nowhere other than in a small town do you get that kind of support.

Mélanie and her five employees will be in charge of the R Snack Shop from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We will serve just like we did at the mall,” Melanie confirmed. “But since we have a deep fryer now, we added what we call ‘kickers’, which are like oles of potatoes. We also have fries now and jalapeño cheddar kickers. And, of course, we always have ice cream and fresh bread on Saturdays. “

Melanie said the drive-thru was not yet open because they wanted everything else to be up and running first, but she said it would be open very soon. Once opened, it will provide another way for customers to order and receive R Snack Shop favorites.

“We are delighted to be open,” beamed Melanie.
