Bombay / Bhubaneswar: Two Odisha youths, who were arrested in connection with the Mumbai cruise ship rave party case, were released on bail today. The duo were among 20 people who have been arrested in the case so far.
During the hearing of the bail applications presented by Manish Rajgaria and Avin Sahu, the NDPS special court granted bail to the two young people from Odisha. They live in the town of Rourkela and were invited to the rave party aboard the cruise ship.
Manish and Avin are the first defendants to obtain bail in this case. While Manish owns a sponge iron factory in Raghunathpali, Avin owns a jewelry store at Ringroad Taxi Stand in Rorukela.
While Rajgaria was charged with possessing 2.4g of ganja, Sahu was charged with accepting that he had used drugs twice on the ship and was caught after the cruise ship returned from Goa to Mumbai on October 4.
Arguing for bail, Sahu’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan said the BCN had failed to conduct a medical examination to verify whether her client had actually used drugs.
Seeking bail for Rajgaria, his lawyer Taraq Sayed said that no collection had been made from his client and that the 2.4 grams of ganja allegedly shown in his possession were handed over by the security personnel of the ship to BCN.
Earlier, the Bombay High Court adjourned the hearing on bail applications by Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, to 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. The court will also resume its hearing on the bail applications of Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha.
