UTEP hosts pre-match parties at home football matches


EL PASO, Texas – Fans who made it to the Sun Bowl for the UTEP comeback or one of the remaining home football games this season will be in for a treat.

“We continue to work hard to reinvent UTEP football matchdays – creating more energy, fun and entertainment for the fans,” said Nick Popplewell, UTEP Associate Sporting Director. “We appreciate the tremendous support and involvement of Speaking Rock in this concept, their partnership is crucial.”

From three hours before kick-off, the Speaking Rock Pregame Party will be located in the northern part of the GR2 parking lot next to Larry K. Durham Center.

The programmed tailgate area offers Miner fans live entertainment, various food and drink options to purchase, freebies and other festivities leading up to the kickoff.

The Speaking Rock pre-game evening is open to the public and free. Fans can expect food trucks and vendors, adult drinks for purchase, live music made possible by Speaking Rock, UTEP Bookstore trailer, sponsorship activations, inflatables for children and The association of former students of the UTEP will also be present.

The location of the Speaking Rock Pregame Party also provides fans the perfect place to cheer on minors as they arrive at the stadium for match day.

The “Miners March” will take place next to the tailgate area, approximately two hours before each home game, and will feature the UTEP Marching Band and Spirit Squad performing and leading the cheering crowd.

“The goal is to create an exciting tailgate space for fans on game day, serving as a rallying point before they head to the Sun Bowl to cheer on the miners,” Popplewell added.
