French DJ production veteran David Guetta met Danish electronic artist Morten Breum aka MORTEN at a gym in Los Angeles. and that created a friendship. MORTEN said over a video chat: “If I remember correctly, David, you came to see me! I’m a little bit shy. He was talking about practicing and stuff and in my head I was like, ‘Let’s talk about music!’ »

The next time they met, MORTEN snuck backstage for a photo at a festival in Belgium. Since then, it’s been a mix of networking and friendship that has brought the duo together. In 2020 they launched future rave, a new style and movement in EDM that draws inspiration from underground techno, among other styles. While there was a remix of Guetta’s inimitable hit “Titanium” featuring Sia, the duo teamed up to release an EP titled New Rave.

In January, Guetta and MORTEN released “Permanence,” an enigmatic upcoming rave record that defies easy categorization. There are techno grooves, operatic vocals and dark, buzzing synths that create an unreal sonic atmosphere. In this video interview with Rolling Stone IndiaGuetta and MORTEN talk about their journey so far with future rave, influences for the movement and whether they will bring their set to India.
